Waves have historically been associated with sea gods. Wild waves were often thought to represent the wrath of god. This emblem was often used by samurai.

Tree peony

Tree peony are native to China. Used by the Kanpaku Konoe family, and had a huge influence. Many daimyo also used this emblem.
