Chrysanthemum

The chrysanthemum is used as an emblem for the imperial family, ever since the Emperor Go-Toba from the Kamakura period. In the 4th year of Meiji period, all non-royal use of the emblem was outlawed.

Horse

Horses have been used for military and agricultural purposes since ancient times. This emblem is used by the Souma family.
