Japanese Apricot

The Japanese apricot is used in various family emblems, ranging from realistic to pictorial representations. They can be found in famous emblems used in temples across Kyoto, Tokyo and Fukuoka.

Masu

The masu is a square measuring tool. The term is a homphone for the word 'to increase', and thus is seen as a word with favourable connotations. There are variants of this emblem which includes the diagonal drawn in.
