Geese have been seen as harbingers of good fortune. Used by the daimyo Shibata.

The chrysanthemum is used as an emblem for the imperial family, ever since the Emperor Go-Toba from the Kamakura period. In the 4th year of Meiji period, all non-royal use of the emblem was outlawed.
