Oak
Oak leaves have historically been used as plates for holding food. When these began to be offered to the gods, the oak gained a reputation for being sacred. It is said that priests were the first to use oak emblems, and is still commonly seen by those in that profession.
Diamond
The diamond emblem represents the grass that grows in lakes, swamps or rivers. This emblem was used by Takeda of Kai.
Pine
Pine symbolise longevity. They are said to host spirits, and have been used in traditional Japanese decorations.
